Terms of Service
Last updated November 1, 2026
1. Agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Moatlight (“we” or “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Moatlight for a company, you confirm you can bind that company. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 years old and use Moatlight for business purposes.
2. What Moatlight does
You give us a website. We read its public pages, infer what the business offers and which questions its buyers ask AI, ask AI engines those questions, and report which brands the answers name, which pages they cite, and what you could change. The service may use third-party AI models and data providers to do this.
The free plan includes one website and one report per 30 days. We may change, limit or add plans and features. If we introduce paid plans, their price and terms will be shown to you before you pay, and you will not be charged without agreeing to them.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your password and email access secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at once if you suspect unauthorised use.
- One person per account. Do not share credentials or create accounts to get around plan limits.
4. Websites you submit
Only submit websites you own or have permission to analyse. You confirm that you have the right to have us read the site’s public pages for the purpose of producing your report.
Our crawler identifies itself as MoatlightBot/1.0, follows robots.txt, reads a small number of public pages, and does not log in to anything. Pages it cannot read are listed in your report.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- probe, scan or test the service’s security, or try to access data that is not yours;
- use bots, scripts or repeated sign-ups to bypass rate limits or report limits;
- submit sites to harass a business or to attack a server;
- resell, white-label or republish the service or its data in bulk without our written agreement;
- use reports or outputs to build a competing product or to train a model;
- upload malware or content that is unlawful, deceptive or abusive.
We may suspend or limit an account that breaks these rules, with notice where practical.
6. Reports, AI output and no guarantees
Reports describe what AI engines answered at the time we asked. AI answers vary between runs, engines, locations and over time, and can be wrong. We show raw counts and the answers themselves so you can check them, but we do not guarantee that they are accurate, complete or repeatable.
Findings, scores such as the unique score, and suggested moves are decision support, not advice. We do not promise higher rankings, mentions, traffic, leads or revenue from following them. Check facts about your business before you publish anything on the basis of a report.
7. Your content and our content
Yours. You keep all rights in your websites, brand names and the information you enter. You give us a limited licence to host, process and display that material, and to send it to our service providers, only to run the service for you and to improve it as described below.
Ours. Moatlight, its software, scoring methods, design and the compilation of reports belong to us and our licensors. Subject to these terms you may use your reports for your own business, including sharing them with your team, clients and advisers. Answers and page excerpts quoted from third parties remain theirs.
Research. Unless you opt out in Settings, we may use aggregated, non-identifying results from reports in our research on what predicts AI recommendations. Shared links are not affected by that setting.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
8. Sharing a report
You can turn on a public link to a report. Anyone with the link can read that report without an account. The link is the only protection, so share it carefully. Turning sharing off permanently disables the old link; a new link is created if you turn sharing on again. Shared pages are marked so search engines do not index them.
9. Third-party services
The service relies on third parties such as AI model providers, data providers, hosting and email services, and Google sign-in. They are listed in our Privacy Policy. Their availability and output are outside our control. Reports also link to third-party sites, which we do not endorse and are not responsible for.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep Moatlight available but provide it as it is, and it may be interrupted for maintenance, provider outages or other reasons. We may change or discontinue features. If we remove a feature you rely on in a way that materially harms you, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Moatlight at any time and ask us to delete your account at ceo@moatlight.com. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if continuing would put the service or other users at risk. Sections that by nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law) do so.
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Moatlight will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
You will defend and compensate us against third-party claims, and related costs, arising from a website you submit without the right to do so, your content, or your breach of these terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except that either of us may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court. Before filing a claim, please write to us at ceo@moatlight.com so we can try to resolve it informally.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect. Using the service after the effective date means you accept the update. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
17. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us on the service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
